A love of coloured plastic, followed by a train and ferry ride back to the island.

Such a beautiful sunrise. They don't make em like they used to.

I want this thing. Not sure what it does per se. But it is beautiful. And has lovely numbers.

Thank you Irish Ferries!! For getting me home! And, in a roundabout way, giving me a stolen afternoon in the V&A, with the plastics and jewellery (no photos allowed). This is the clock tower in Holyhead train station, I have never been so glad to see a large static timepiece in an out-of-the-way location.

Oblivion // ❡ SketchSnippet#21

Having finally extricated myself and loved ones from the crazy apocalyptic silliness that accompanies any semblance of snow in these here islands, and managed to make it back from my graduation in Reading on Friday, by train and then ferry. I thought I'd digitise some of the sketches I made over the weekend of long thumbtwiddling in airports, trains, planes, tubes, and ferry and also have a very quick play with illustrator cs5's stroke width tool. I've been meaning to have a looksee at this for a while now, ever since I saw Jessica Hische's screencast on the tool which got me curious in the first place... and yup. I'm totally hooked. So, first off, Oblivion! Yes, it was a fun weekend. I hope everyone else made it home from the graduation for Christmas, and that anyone else stuck in England or Ireland is doing ok in all the kerfuffle. Fingers crossed it all eases up a little before the mass migration for food inhalation and gift-giving of 25th.

omg. i love illustrator cs5 from Jessica Hische on Vimeo.

O'Donovan's

Terrible quality as with all these phone camera shots, but lovely signage, such chubby little 4's!

I Wanna Be Sedated // ❡ SketchSnippet#10

In honour of the most cheerful patient I have ever seen, who came to from his sedation for wisdom-teeth removal singing "I wanna be sedated", by The Ramones. No joke! I couldn't quite make out the tune, but when I asked, with some concern, how the sounds he was making should be interpreted, he informed me (with great difficulty and contorting of uncooperative tongue), that it was indeed, the very apt tune.

Happy Thanksgiving! // ❡ SketchSnippet#09

Happy Thanksgiving to all my New Worldian brethren! =) Hope it's filled with pumpkin pies galore! This holiday actually doesn't mean a huge amount to me having grown up in the Olde World here in Dublin, but it's an excuse for festivity and flamboyant lettering so I'm all for it. Hope it's a good one! I'm thankful for croissants, coffee, my pencil, otis redding and my family & friends ( I believe this is customary no?) All the best lads n ladies!
